Wayne P ratt’s interest
in antiques started at an early age. At seven, he bought his first
windsor chair and by age fifteen, he sold his first mechanical bank.
Growing up in New England, he recalls that the flavor and
architecture further whetted his interest in Americana. After a
brief career in industry, Wayne followed his long-time interest in
antiques and in 1969 started Wayne Pratt & Company, an antique
dealership providing fine eighteenth and nineteenth century
furniture and located in Marlboro, Massachusetts. Using the Marlboro
gallery as a base, Wayne spent most of his early days in the antique
field traveling to trade shows throughout the country. In 1993,
Wayne relocated his shop to a pristine 1750 house in Woodbury,
Connecticut, where he continues to sell the best country and formal
furniture that he can find. Wayne has appeared as an appraiser for the PBS series Antiques
Roadshow. |
Mary beth Keene joined
the company in 1978 after owning her own antiques and design firm in
the Rochester, New York area. In Rochester she was a noted expert on
antique textiles as well as eighteen and nineteenth country
furniture and folk art. Frequently called "the Cupboard Queen,"
Marybeth uses her Chemistry background to help interpret furniture
surfaces. Today, Marybeth is Vice President of Wayne Pratt Antiques
where she consults with collectors on forming personalized
collections and interiors. Marybeth is an active member of the
antiques community. She is a trustee of the Connecticut Historical
Society, serves on the committee for Town Planning and Development
of Woodbury and recently served as president for the Woodbury
Antiques Dealers Association. Marybeth is featured as a current appraiser for the PBS series
Antiques Roadshow. |
